Hanoi, Vietnam -The incoming Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre Lee Hyuk, currently serving as the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to Vietnam, was presented the Medal for Peace and Friendship among Nations by Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong in recognition of his remarkable contributions to enhancing cooperative relationships between Korea and Vietnam.

Vice President Phong underlined Ambassador Lee’s efforts to gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam by paying visits to various places and interacting with people within the country, while showing active support to the activities of the VUFO, the Vietnam-ROK Friendship Association, and people-to-people exchanges. Vice President Phong also expressed hope that the Ambassador will make continuous efforts to build a stronger bilateral relationship.

Expressing gratitude for receiving the Medal, Ambassador Lee remarked that he had seen a strong development of economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between Korea and Vietnam during his tenure. He pledged to contribute to deepening the relations between Korea and ASEAN, and particularly between Korea and Vietnam, during his upcoming post as the Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre in Seoul, starting from 16 April.
