Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre noted that, “Movies allow us to embrace and understand cultural backgrounds of the film maker with an open mind. Thus, I believe this Film Festival would serve as a meaningful platform for the general public in Korea to better understand ASEAN through the films. As this year’s festival was able to reach wider audiences in ASEAN through cooperation, I hope the event also contributed to raising awareness on ASEAN and ASEAN-Korea relations among the ASEAN-Korean youth and nurturing talent of young film makers.”

Granx Prix went to by a film maker from the Philippines, Golden Film Award to by an Indonesian film maker, Silver Film to by an Indonesian film maker, and Bronze Film to by a Korean film maker, and by an Indonesian film maker. Also, one can vote the People’s Choice Award on Facebook Page of the ASEAN-Korea Centre (http://www.facebook.com/akcsns) from 28 October to 5 November.

Kim Joo-hwan, a Director of the film, Midnight Runners (2017) and head of the panel of judges noted that, “I was so surprised that all winning entries including the first-prize winning film showed excellent stories and technicalities. I’d like to encourage winners to continue their journey as film makers, communicating through films that make viewers embrace each other.”

The ASEAN-Korea Short Film Festival has been carried out as part of the ASEAN Youth Nights, organized by the ASEAN-Korea Centre and the ASEAN Youth Network in Korea (AYNK) since 2015.
