ASEAN-Korea Centre to hold the 9th Annual Council Meeting
- Council Directors from ASEAN and Korea to gather to discuss contributions and roles of the Centre -
Seoul, Republic of Korea - The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Young-sun), an intergovernmental organization mandated to promote economic and socio-cultural cooperation between the 10 ASEAN Member States and Korea will hold its 9th Annual Council Meeting at Lotte Hotel, Seoul, Korea on 16-17 February 2017.
The Council is the highest decision-making body of the ASEAN-Korea Centre and consists of Directors appointed by the 10 ASEAN Member States and Korea. As this year marks the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN and the ASEAN-ROK Cultural Exchange Year, roles and contributions of the Centre, as a key channel for ASEAN-Korea partnership, are becoming even more important. In this regard, the Council Directors will conduct in-depth review and discussion on the Centre’s FY2017 work programs, aiming to promote mutual understanding and two-way cultural exchanges between ASEAN and Korea, including a series of special programs scheduled to be held in this May-June, under the title of Month of ASEAN.
On 16 February, the reception hosted by Lim Sung-nam, the 1st Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea on the occasion of the 8th Anniversary of the Centre and the 9th Annual Meeting of the Council will be held. Approximately 150 distinguished guests from the diplomatic corps, media, academia, and economic circle are expected to attend the event.
