ASEAN-Korea Tourism Capacity Building in Cambodia 2017-09-09 ~ 2017-09-13 |Cambodia ? Battambang

● Program Title: ASEAN-Korea Tourism Capacity Building in Cambodia

● Date: 9-13 September

● Venue: Cambodia – Battambang
Battambang was chosen as the workshop venue as the Royal Government of Cambodia is making efforts to promote Battambang as a World Heritage site – Urban Heritage based on the French colonial architecture that remains in abundance and in good condition

● Theme: Attracting FITs to Hoi An as a Cultural Heritage Destination

● Objectives:

- To increase competitiveness of the tourism industry in Cambodia by strengthening the capacity of local tourism professionals in Cambodia, so that they may effectively promote Battambang as a representative cultural heritage destination, and provide tailor-made services to Korean tourists

- To offer tourism products that are distinctive, authentic, and satisfactory to Korean tourists

- To bolster tourism exchange between ASEAN and Korea by providing lectures on Korea-Cambodia tourism trends, marketing strategies, and culture; and offer networking opportunities

● (Expected number of) Participants: 80-100

● Main Activities:

- One-Day Workshop: The workshop is composed of sessions by 1) A local speaker from Battambang Tourism Industry (TBC); 2) Professor Han Suk Young, School of Hospitality and Tourism, Sejong Cyber University 3) Mr. Moon Young Bae, Sales and Marketing Manager, Redcap Tours; 4) Dr. Baek Seung-woo, Area Director of Finance, Hyatt International Corporation. Lectures will be followed by Panel Discussion and Q&A Session, to share knowledge and answer questions among the participants and lectures.

- 5 Pre & Post Workshop Programs:

i. On-site Consultation: AKC and speakers visit the representative cultural heritage tourism destinations in Battambang, analyzing potentials, strengths, and areas for improvement of the site and activities.

ii. Roundtable Discussion: Prior to the workshop, ideas will be shared among Korean speakers and policy-makers from both public and private sector in Battambang

iii. Networking Reception: After the Workshop, speakers and participants will share their thoughts and opinions and build business networks with tourism professional from various backgrounds
