ADB Joint Training Program 2017-11-13 ~ 2017-11-17 |Seoul, Korea

ASEAN-Korea Centre organized the Joint Training Program with the Asia Development Bank (ADB) on 13-17 November 2017 in Seoul, Korea. This This program offered 5-day-long-intensive training on regional market and cross-border interconnections to policy makers from Greater-Mekong Sub-region (GMS) including Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and China as well as Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines who are actively taking part in the ASEAN Power Grid Initiative.


The training composed of a series of lectures, case studies, and industrial visits. Experts from Korea and abroad, including the Chairman of the ASEAN Power Grid Consultative Committee, senior energy economist and training specialists from the ADB, and ASEAN senior officials relevant to energy policy development gave lectures on the themes of ‘Regional Energy Cooperation’, ‘Competitive Regional Power Market’, ‘Regional Power Trade and Market’, and ‘Regional Energy Cooperation in Northeast Asia.’ Mr. Son Jong-Cheon from the Korea Smart Grid Institute (KSGI) introduced current development of Korea’s power market and possible collaboration between ASEAN and Korea in the energy sector. Delegates also gained first-hand experience of Korea’s good practice through industrial visit to the Korea South-East Power Co. Yeongheung Power Plan.
